LTT: Pickup update
Recorded a short video overview of the pickups we are putting in the Spear Gladius.
Enjoy
Marshall MS-2 update

Marshall MS-2
I'm continually impressed by this little micro stack.
I use it a lot at home now and has become my practise amp.
So simple to use and sounds harsh cranked but has a certain gritty quality that I love, especially good when you have your normal pedals plugged into it.
LTT update – Gladius your pickups are on their way
Pickups have been bought and are winging their way to us.
Went for:
- DiMarzio PAF PRO - Neck
- DiMarzio MO JOE - Bridge
- Mulitple 5 way selector
Will be getting wired up like THIS
Thanks to Steve at DiMarzio Uk for the advice.
LTT update – Hard tailed PRS Custom 24
Our LTT (Long Term Test) PRS Custom 24 was hard tailed a week ago and what a difference it has made.

PRS Custom 24
I was having a problem of the G string dropping tune on a regular basis, I didn't even use the tremolo so after a discussion with Rob Chapman I decided to take the plunge and hard tail it.
Since it's been done I have had zero tuning problems, I also restrung at the same time moving up to 10's from 9.5's.
It's my number 1 again.
Fender Stratocaster, project and long term test

Fender Stratocaster No 1
Dug out of retirement is my Fender Stratocaster, made in Mexico.
I have owned this guitar for 12 years and its showing signs of its age and battle scars but playing it for 5 minutes reminds me why I like it so much. Great unfinished maple neck and comfortable body, so easy to play.
I am going to make this a project guitar and start to upgrade (suggestions welcome).
This is what has been done so far:
* Seymour Duncan Jb Jnr in Bridge
* Fender Texas Specials in Middle and Neck positions
Thats it so far.
Plan is:
* Ageing, will be sanding to look worn
* Change tuners
* New bridge
* Fret dress
* Scratchplate
* Gold Harware
Trying to go for an SRV feel.
Updates to come as I get through them.
Long Term Test Update – PRS Custom 24
Our test PRS Custom 24, Anni is still going strong a year on.
It bares a few scratches on the back from a belt and rehearsals but it still looks brand new thanks to the hard wearing poly finish PRS use on their lines.
The most versatile guitar out there still amazes me and no way its ever going to be let go.
If you want a guitar that covers all bases then this is the one for you.
Gibson Les Paul Traditional – Long Term Test Update
Our long term test Gibson Les Paul Traditional, affectionately named Bonus continues to be my go to guitar.
It lives out of the case and is slowly showing some signs of wear, the neck is losing its stickiness (thanks to the nitro finish) and the pickup covers are also losing their initial shine.
Still plays like a dream after a setup at World Guitars with 10's.
Thats it for now, look out for more updates soon.
Martin JC-16RGTE Aura – First impressions

JC-16GTE
Martin JC-16GTE
I have played this for a couple of weeks now so wanted to put down some first impressions.
Specs:
- Solid Sitka Spruce top
- East Indian rosewood back and sides
- 20 frets
- Polished gloss finish
- Fishman Aura electrics
Price: £1699 (with hard case)
In use this is a dream to play, the neck reminds me of a 50's Les Paul, the tone is well rounded and the onboard Fishman is excellent (even has a tuner).
Its a jumbo size but the cutaway is deceiving and makes it feel smaller, its a great strummer but works well with fingerpicking.
G | H rating so far 5/5
