DIY Music Manual – Recommendation

DIY Music Manual
The DIY Music Manual - Randy Chertkow and Jason Feehan
Just wanted to give a shout out to a book I've recently discovered, which is essential for anyone who wants to produce, promote and distribute their music without being attached to a label.
The writers are both members of a band called Beatnik Turtle and it covers everything you need from producing the music to getting an online presence. Loads of good ideas and hints and tips on where to look, how to market and get noticed on the internet.
Can't recommend this highly enough if you are looking to get into your own music or promoting your own band.

Signature Licks – Stevie Ray Vaughan

Signature Licks - SRV
Signature Licks - Stevie Ray Vaughan by Wolf Marshall
(with CD)
SRV is a major influence on my playing so I didn't have to think twice about picking up this book, it covers sections from the following songs:
- Look at little sister
- The house is rockin'
- Love struck baby
- Pride and joy
- Cold shot
- Scuttle Buttin'
- Stang's swang
- Leave my little girl alone
- Love me darlin'
- Come on (part III)
- Lenny
- Riviera paradise
- Crossfire
Remember this is a technique book so there are extracts from the above tracks to demonstrate some of the techniques Stevie used in his playing.
For anyone looking to pickup blues playing then this book is great, it starts with 12 bar explanation and shows a basic scale that can be used, it then goes onto explaining each track.
The tab is well laid out and the quality of the CD is excellent.
G | H rating 4/5 - not just for SRV fans, anyone looking to improve or pick up blues playing should find this useful.
